Formed in 2013 by bassist Amina Michele Scott and trumpeter Cyrus Nabipoor, NORUZ is an instrumental sextet out of New Orleans, LA. Scott has performed regularly in projects led by jazz luminaries #ChristianScottaTundeAdjuah and #NicholasPayton while also a full-time member of the #NewOrleansJazzOrchestra led by #AdonisRose. A supergroup of sorts, each band member tours extensively with several different projects which makes the time they come together as NORUZ all the more special. Influence and inspiration is drawn from heavyweights The Headhunters and Miles Davis’ Electric Band as well as modern giants #SnarkyPuppy, #Kneebody, and the #RobertGlasperExperiment. In 2018, the band held an acclaimed residency at the Ace Hotel, New Orleans where they invited guests to join them monthly. Special guests included drummer Jamison Ross (Snarky Puppy), trumpeter Eric "Benny" Bloom (Lettuce), and vocalist Mykia Jovan, among others. NORUZ is currently working on the follow up to their debut full-length, The Witching Hour, released in May 2018.

Dopeciety presents a new series featuring artist Mykia Jovan.
Through this show Mykia will explore and expand on her original work, sharing personal stories through song each month.
Parlours are rooms where life and death are celebrated and honored. Rooms where engagements are announced, wakes are held, musical recitals performed. A place for family and friends to gather alike, to honor life’s most significant moments. They are sacred spaces.
Mykia recently said, “my strength comes from my ancestors." The Parlour will serve as a space to honor those who have come before her and continue to guide her spirit.
Please join us April 11 for the first installment of The Parlour with Mykia Jovan. Space is limited, presale tickets available at http://www.ticketfly.com/event/1848831/
